Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie is Lincoln starring Daniel
Day-Lewis. The show will begin at 7:00 PM in the Ramada. The
film depicts the final four months of Lincoln's life, focusing
on his efforts in January 1865 to have the Thirteenth Amendment
to the Constitution passed by the U.S. House of
Representatives. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for
sponsoring this event. |
Board of Directors Election - We Need YOU!
From Board Secretary and Nominating Committee Chair Ken
Lindeman: Volunteer now! We are asking our neighbors
to help us dispel the notion that we have "the good ole boys'
club" on our HOA board. Please submit your name to me
(970-577-3395) by November 15. We are a community run by
volunteers and the HOA Board is no exception. Names will be
accepted from half-time residents, full-time residents, women or
men. Your brief bio will appear in the Periodico and you will
become famous, at least to the voters of Esperanza Estates.
Please consider throwing your name into the ring for a three
year term. Quit after 3 years, that's okay, but give it a
shot. Thanks. |
Hospitality Does It Again
Thanks to our Hospitality Committee for treating us to
another great event complete with tasty pizza, good company, and
dancing. Their next event will be on Saturday, November 17.
Details will be in next week's memo. |
EE Artisans Workshop
The group members will try their hands at decorating
flowerpots on Thursday, November 15, at 1:00 PM at the Ramada.
Preparatory work will take place at Barbara Copeland's house
(1011 Calle Regalo) on Tuesday, November 13, at 1:00 PM. If you
can't attend the Tuesday session and need to do the work at
home, you should spray the inside of a terracotta pot with
waterproof sealant, paint the outside of the pot with white
paint, and bring the pot to the Thursday session. Thanks to Linda
Welsh for suggesting the project. Contact Barbara at
(952-250-6716) if you have any questions. Everyone is invited
to attend the workshop. |
Attention EE Artisans
It's time to start preparing for EE's annual Arts & Crafts
Sale on Saturday, December 1, from 10:00 AM to noon at
the Ramada. The sale will be open to the public, so it's a good
way to give your creations wide exposure. To reserve a table,
contact Marla Ries at gvmarlaries@gmail.com. |
Forum on Mine Dust
Representative of Freeport-McMoRan will address mine
tailings and dust control at the Green Valley Council forum on
Wednesday, November 7, at 9:00 AM. The forum will be held in the
Salvation Army Conference Room, 555 N. La Canada, Suite 121.
Reservations are required (520-648-1936). |
Pool Hours
Reminder that winter pool hours are now in effect. The
pool will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. |
Attention Water Aerobics Participants
Because of our cool morning temperatures, the Water
Aerobics Group will take a break until mornings warm up next
spring. Anyone want to start a Polar Bear Club? |
Esperanza Jams
There's been a good response to Esperanza Jams (originally
scheduled for Nov. 8th). Unfortunately, the violinist, the
stand-up bass player, the banjo player, the accordion
player, and the ukulele player either have not yet arrived
or are traveling outside Green Valley. The first gathering
has been rescheduled to 3:00 PM, Thursday, Dec. 6, at the
home of Marla Ries, 852 W Calle del Regalo. Please let her
know you will be attending (gvmarlaries@gmail.com
/ 360-708-0855).
